For this very happy client based in Witham, we designed, installed and fabricated a made-to-measure metal well cover.
How It Was Made – The Process
1. Consultation
During the consultation stage, we discussed what the client wanted, how we would achieve their goal and the design options for them to choose from.
2. Design Finalisation
Furthermore, after the initial consultation, we discussed and finalised the well cover design; this included the shape, choice of metal, metal finishing, safety fastening and how it would be attached.
3. Fabrication
With the design finalized, we proceeded to fabricate the well cover. The hammered metal bars were cut to size, welded to the circular frame, and weaved together to create a beautiful hatched pattern. We also attached a safety fastening mechanism to enable the metal cover to be securely attached to the brick and locked in place.
4. Fitting and Installation
Once the well cover was fabricated, all we needed to do was install it into place; we did this by drilling metal three metal eye plates into the brick, which aligned with the metal clasps on the well frame; this allows the gate cover to be secured with a padlock for safety and security.
Fabricated and made from wrought iron, the metal well cover was finished in a glossy black zinc powder coat; this helps to protect the metal from rusting and general wear and tear.
In addition to choosing the metal finish, the client chose hammered metal bars for a more rustic look.
